Small games, carefully made.
BergPuzzles is an independent collection of logic, word, number, pattern, and strategy games. The goal is to create engaging and fun puzzle games that people like coming back to.
Why it exists
I like building small side projects, and puzzle games are both fun to play and especially fun to make. They often give me an excuse to go deep on interesting problems, such as generating better word data for a Contexto-style game.
How it started
The idea began during a week at a summer house with my family. My daughter and I played a pen-and-paper version of Bulls and Cows. I thought it could work well as a simple digital game, and this later became the first game in the collection, MysteryMoo.
Some time later, she showed me a Roblox game called Guess the Word. I thought it would be a fun project to make a similar game in Icelandic, and this became the second game in the collection, Orðakjarni.
Those two games became the starting point for BergPuzzles.

Theme preferences, progress, and statistics may be stored locally in your browser. Clearing this site's browser storage will also clear that saved data.

Credits and licenses
The puzzles in the currently live games are original or generated specifically for BergPuzzles. They do not use an external player-puzzle collection.
Word Squares data combines the public-domain ENABLE word list with frequency data from FrequencyWords by Hermit Dave. FrequencyWords content is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. BergPuzzles filters the source data and generates derived dictionaries and puzzles, which are shared under the same license. See the source details and checksums.
English Word Ladders data is derived from 12dicts 6.0.2, compiled by Alan Beale and released to the public domain with a request for acknowledgment. See the source details.
The interface uses the Geist typeface, licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, together with open-source interface libraries under their respective licenses.
